Invitation to attend a roadshow and view data for offshore blocks

Unión Cuba-Petróleo (CUPET), in partnership with BGP, invites you to attend a promotional event which will include presentations and data viewing relating to the 2019 licensing round. Twenty four (24) blocks offshore in the Cuban economic exclusive zone of the Gulf of Mexico are being offered. The Licensing Round will open at a Roadshow in London on Monday 3rd June 2019, and participation registration will be accepted until January 10th 2020.

The Gulf of Mexico is one of the most prolific and prospective offshore areas in the world.
Cuba currently produces around 6000 BOE/day from the western offshore by drilling extended reach wells through duplex structures in the folded and thrusted belt. Reservoirs are fractured and lixiviated carbonates from the Late Jurassic. The seals are lithologically composed of tertiary shale, with Jurassic deep water clay carbonate facies source rocks.
In 2012, three exploration wells were drilled in this area, with targets focused on Cretaceous carbonates and no commercial oil was discovered; however, all had oil shows originating from Late Jurassic source rocks.
New high resolution 2D seismic from BGP shot in 2017 provides valuable information concerning basement depth and sedimentary thickness. New areas with huge potential for petroleum systems were discovered. Through mapping several leads in first interpretation stage, resources are estimated to be more than 10 million barrels of recoverable oil, with expected qualities of 25-35° API.

Roadshow 3rd June 2019

The Bid Round will be announced at a roadshow on Monday 3rd June 2019, at the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall, London. Presentations will provide an opportunity for interested parties to review and discuss the exploration opportunities, the contractual fiscal terms and the legal framework governing upstream petroleum activities in Cuba.

Data Viewing 5/6th June 2019

Data viewings will be available by appointment at the Aloft Hotel, adjacent to the Excel Centre, on 5th and 6th June.

Data packages are available from BGP on request. Additional opportunities exist for farm-out projects with established operators PDVSA and Sonangol, with CUPET support.

CUPET and BGP will be exhibiting at the EAGE conference from 4th to 6th of June, providing further opportunities to meet with the team.

If you would like to attend the roadshow or make an appointment to view the data, please contact in the first instance.
